Week 3: IMPACT

ABOUT MY PROCESS

I mainly researched about the new trends and thought about a scenario where such trends are exaggerated. I asked myself questions like: What if the world is completely covered with screens? What if it is covered in melted plastic? What if space tourism and space settling are ordinary? What if lands and ecosystems are not harmed anymore?

MY PROCESS IN THE GROUP

We shared our views in the group and brain stormed new ideas that could be implemented into a general Fashion world. We combined ideas like a united council of fashion (Universal United Fashion), virtual clothing, virtual reality, clothing with super powers generated by technology, world driven by algorithms, Artificial Intelligence, and gender equality. We had no clear idea of what our future scenario would look like, however discussing about current and future trends with a diverse group of people made the assignment more relevant for myself. Cultural background is a main factor when it comes to estimating, dreaming, and fantasizing about different scenarios.

WHAT I LEARNED

In week 3 I struggled putting together all the lose information provided by each member of the group, but I really tried understanding all views. I usually struggle with active listening, but in this case I wanted to learn as much information about the world as possible. I learned that active listening can be more relevant than expressing your opinion regardless.

Some relevant society trends I focused on were:

• Screening: screens are everywhere and are fully integrated in our daily lives;
• Change of interactions: we interact mostly with phones, thus we are slowly losing gestures, voice tones, and body languages;
• Sharing: we share a lot of life moments with the rest of the world through mediums like photos, videos, and articles;
• No ownership: we are slowly losing ownership of things because everything is easily accessible via internent (for instance movies, music, art, books, etc);
• Globalization: everything is produced and copied gllobally – uniqueness is the new trend;

I learned that understanding human behavior is the foundation for any business move. Society is quickly evolving, humans are quickly evolving, businesses are quickly evolving, thus fashion is quickly evolving  as well.
