I am scared. Algorithms, technology, and AI are arising and inevitably taking our place in the world. When I think there is no space for a designer, a manager, a doctor, I question: how is that possible? We have adapted and evolved for over 2 billion years for our basic instinct of survivorship. This has never changed, it’s Darwin’s evolution. What about human needs? Inventions depend on needs, sometimes on mistakes. AI and its perfection will fulfill those needs. What will be the push for new inventions or Ideas?
Throughout history most occurring trends have been reversed because they got to the point of being exaggerated and harmful to humans. For instance sustainability is a clear opposition to industrialization and fast production, smoking was a trend that has been reversed after 30 years, even fashion is going back to quality over quantity. There is often a reverse turning point. Can technology have a turning point?
We are the ones establishing the future, we are the programmers and inventors of our new jobs. Maybe I am a dreamer, but surely I like to believe I will evolve and find my space in a number driven society. Will I be able to feel, fantasize and dream of ideas? Or my romanticism has to be taken away by rationalism and numbers?
